Through visual, musical, and culinary references the visitors were teleported to the most colorful and nostalgic corners of my memories of the beach of the same name in the south of Lima, Peru: Puerto Fiel. A woven portrait of the sea, a video projection, a kinetic weaving, a participatory weaving, beads, paintings, a kiosk, tables, and chairs composed the space. In the middle, various concerts, performances, and happenings took place throughout the week.

Peruvian musicians from Berlin and Paris, as well as musicians from the Robert Schumann University of Düsseldorf, came together and performed a program ranging from Latin American folklore to experimental music, from a capella and cajón, to live coding and no-input mixing.

Every day at the “Kiosko de los cariñitos” you could find a selection of Peruvian, homemade products such as Canchita Serrana, Chicha Morada, Pisco Sour, or Causa Rellena, as well as local German products. You could sit freely at the tables and enjoy the program and the environment with a drink. A large loom (“Nos vemos en el cosmos” project) stood on the opposite side of the kiosk and opened an invitation to weave.

The exhibition space opened up as a social space, as a space for encounters, functioned as a contact zone to explore different forms of social interaction, as a place to arrive, linger, talk, and discover, to make art at eye level, where everyone feels invited.

Art, performance, everyday life, folklore, culture, climate change, social responsibility, participation, collaboration, the idea of learning, making music, dancing, eating and drinking, caring and sharing, all together in one space.
